Property in Honor Oak

Once home to Spike Millgan, Honor Oak is brimming with Victorian and Edwardian homes that sprang up following the railway’s arrival. Tree-lined rows of terraces lie north and south of the high street, with many 2 bed half-houses available along Gabriel, Ackroyd and Bovill Roads. Plenty of rented flats exist above shops while families appreciate the outstanding schools and transport options on offer.

Honor Oak schools

You’re blessed. Stillness Primary is one of the best in Lewisham, with Dalmain scoring not far behind it in the league tables. If you buy towards the Forest Hill side, then Fairlawn (another top performer) is within reach and faith-observers can opt for the highly respectable St Francesca Cabrini close by. Secondary age kids can reach Sydenham Girls’, Forest Hill Boys’, Kingsdale, Deptford Green or St ursula’s Convent comfortably from here.

SE23 shopping and leisure

Due to recent gentrification into SE23, the high street has blossomed and has a wonderful gift shop (Jumping Bean), café (Hopscotch) retro furniture oulet (ID) and organic beauty salon (Neroli). Two restaurants to look out for are Babur (awarded two AA rosettes and described by the Independent newspaper as “one of the best Indians in London” and Le Querce, a highly rated Italian, both around the corner on Brockley Rise. The Brockley Jack is an award-winning fringe theatre that also shows superb arthouse films.

Public transport from Honor Oak

Really good. Honor Oak Park serves London Bridge, Victoria and more recently Canada Water, Shoreditch, Hoxton, dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington. There’s talk of a Thameslink Project (beginning in 2018) that will add services to St Pancras International and Hertfordshire—watch this space. Buses travel up to Holburn, Aldwych and St Paul’s with a nightbus service running down from Tottenham Court Road.
