A great option for people who want to tap into the charms of neighbouring East Dulwich but pay considerably less for a property. Nunhead has rows of pretty Victorian terraces and some outstanding semis and detached homes along Linden Grove, St Mary's Road and overlooking Peckham Rye Park. First-timer buyers can get a foot on the ladder in any of the flats found here (WW2 bombs were discharged in the area, so a bit of social housing exists) while property developers have seen Nunhead’s potential and a few good-looking new apartment blocks have sprung up.

Nunhead has a good high street with a revered wet fish shop (Soper’s), a bakery (Ayre’s), a traditional butcher, florist (AG Flowers), bicycle shop (Rat Race Cycles) and delicatessen/coffe shop (Bambuni). The Tesco Local on Rye Lane, Morrison’s in Peckham and Sainsbury’s at Dog Kennel Hill are all close. Fun can be had in the Old Nun’s Head pub with music and street food nights or in any of the excellent gourmet pubs fringing Peckham Rye Park. What luck, Nunhead station is in zone 2 and has services to Victoria, Blackfriars, Farringdon, City Thameslink and St Pancras. Change at Peckham Rye (just one stop away) for London Bridge and London Overground links (Clapham Junction, Canada Water, Shoreditch, Hoxton, Dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington). Nearby Brockley station is also in zone 2 and has London Overground services if you're that side of SE15. Buses are plentiful along Rye Lane going into the City and West End and include nightbus services.
