Route D’Entrechaux,, Malaucéne - £1,500,000

In an area where truffles are famously foraged, wild boar is hunted and some of the most notable vineyards in France thrive, we know a couple who are selling a home that offers a complete lifestyle change. Once the residence of writer Marie Cardinal, today's owners at La Madelene arrange high-end wine tours and have been nominated for the 2016 Luxury Travel Awards. The house is spilling with authentic French charm - every room is stylishly turned-out, sometimes with a nod to the building's origin. You can dine al fresco on any of the terraces and take in views of orchards, vineyards, the medieval hilltop village of Crestet and the highest peak in Provence. Mt. Ventoux rises 1912m above sea level, is famous for its regular inclusion in the Tour de France and is a mecca for cyclists.

Dedicated foodies will appreciate the superb local family-run restaurants and lively local markets, where seasonal local produce is abundant. For history lovers, nearby is a Roman archeological site at the Roman town of Vaison-la-Romaine and a Roman arena at Orange. Wine fans can enjoy the famous vineyards of Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaumes de Venise while a 30-minute drive takes you to Chateauneuf du Pape. The Luberon villages of Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux are just over an hours drive to the south. The major towns of Orange and Carpentras are just 30-minutes away and the beautiful city of Avignon with its Papal Palace and quality shopping, is 45-minutes from here. Nimes and Marseille airports are just over an hour's drive while the Eurostar travels to Avignon in the summer. It's also easy to train it down from Paris to Orange or Avignon.
