Chestnut Close, Shardeloes Road, SE14 - £500,000

If homes came in starter kits, we'd order one of these! For less than the price of many flats in the area, this house has its own garden and is in a can't-drive-through cul-de-sac just off Shardeloes Road. You're only 5-10 minutes' walk to an incredibly array of zone 2 stations: New Cross Gate (trains and Overground), New Cross (trains), Deptford Bridge (DLR) and Deptford (trains).

The house has a large, sunny reception with sliding doors that open to the garden. The room is around 20ft in length, has dark wood flooring and light-grey walls. There's a potting shed in the garden, smart fencing, a lawn and patio stones. Modern cream units are fitted in the kitchen, there's a stainless steel built-in oven, gas hob, space for a tall fridge/freezer, plumbing for a washing machine and a combination boiler. Across the hall is a useful downstairs cloakroom and a deep cupboard.

Two double bedrooms and a super-smart shower room are on the first floor. The master bedroom has a built-in double wardrobe and a large cupboard while the second bedroom has garden views. The shower room is fully tiled, has a giant shower cubicle, contemporary white suite and mirrored vanity unit.

Reach Cannon Street in just 10-minutes from New Cross or Deptford stations. London Bridge is 6-minutes' away via New Cross Gate, where you can also pick up Overground links to Clapham Junction, Canada Water, Shoreditch, Hoxton, Dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington. DLR services from Deptford Bridge travel to Canary Wharf and Bank. Goldsmiths' University is moments away, there are two primary schools nearby (Myatt Garden and St James Hatcham) while Haberdashers' Aske's and Deptford Green are the nearest secondary schools. Sort your grocery shopping at the large Sainsbury's in New Cross and enjoy lunch or evening drinks in any of the excellent local pubs and cafés in the area.
