Dunoon Road, Forest Hill, SE23 - £1,175,000

You'll find a flamboyant mix of architectural styles along Dunoon Road, but its jewels are the handful of detached 1920s about halfway down. This is one of them; set back by a deep front garden and set apart by a fluted gable roof, the original front door and roll-up-to-me gravel drive. There's space to park a couple of convertibles out front and you can walk wet dogs, bicycles or prams through the side gates, straight into the back garden.

The house is double-fronted and the interior hallway (a rather wide one at that) has reception rooms either side of it. Nominations for the best-designed utility room are in - this one includes an architect-designed coat rack, shoe storage and side-by-side plumbing for a washing machine and tumble dryer. There's also a separate downstairs cloakroom.

The rear of the house was extended around 6-years ago to create a large kitchen/diner and more reception space, both of which have underfloor heating. The kitchen has white units, plumbing for a dishwasher and a column-fitted Miele oven, warmer and microwave. The worktop is quartz composite and has an inset gas hob. You can seat guests at a table by the garden door or sweep them out to the terrace in warm weather. For kitchen purists and peek-a-boo children, there is also a walk-in pantry. On the other side of the hall is a large double reception with interconnecting glass-panelled doors. Wood flooring is laid and French doors open out to the garden. Beyond the terrace is a good-size lawn bordered by established flower beds that include a fine selection of cottage plants, shrubs, spring bulbs and climbing roses. At the back of the garden is a managed woodland area providing a haven for a wide selection of wild birds and mammals. There are three garden sheds: a large shed with power, a smaller summerhouse and a bike shed at the side of the house.

Two of the three bedrooms are doubles, the third a large single and all are very well turned out. There's a modern family bathroom with a simple white suite and a shower over the bath. The cloakroom is separate.

Honor Oak Park station is a 6-8 minute walk for trains to London Bridge and Victoria plus London Overground links to Canada Water, Shoreditch, Hoxton, Dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington. Canary Wharf is just a 30-minute, door-to-door journey. The high street has a delicatessen, cafe, a sourdough pizzeria, superb Italian restaurant (Le Querce), tapas bar, Sainsbury's Local, an organic beauty parlour, florist, independent bicycle shop and a gift shop. Forest Hill offers delis, coffee shops, a supermarket, a modern swimming pool with fitness centre and some very amenable pubs and restaurants - it's around 10-15 minutes' walk. Parents will rejoice as Fairlawn Primary School is up the road (rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted) while secondary-age kids fare well at The Forest School, The Sydenham School and Kingsdale. Independent schooling is a 10-minute drive away and includes some of the UK's best: Alleyn's, Dulwich College and JAGS. ...Read Less
