When a newly married couple bought this house off-plan in 1957, they saw no reason to ever uproot. A family has been happily raised here with great schools, open green spaces and decent commuting links all nearby. Maldon Close is still a rare find in London; it sits just off Grove Lane on the edge of some of the area's most prestigious addresses yet is tucked quietly away from passing traffic. Kids can play outside 1970's-style with parents able to keep an eye from the sitting room window. Every original detail in the house has been beautifully kept, from the built-in cabinets in the reception to the black-fringed tiles and (fairly on-trend!) yellow suite in the family bathroom. The house has two good double bedrooms and a workable single whose large airy double reception has French doors that swing open to the garden. There's a side gate from the street and the potential to make off-street parking at the front.

Denmark Hill station is in travel zone 2 and just a 5-minute walk away. Services include non-stop Victoria trains (a 9-minute journey) and London Overground links to Clapham Junction, Canada Water, Shoreditch, Hoxton, Dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington. East Dulwich station is a 10-minute walk for trains to London Bridge. The nearest state primary is a very good one - Dog Kennel Hill and secondary state options include Kingsdale (Ofsted "outstanding"), Harris Academy Peckham ("good"), St Thomas the Apostle ("outstanding") and perhaps, with the wind behind you, Charter ("outstanding"). Some of the UK's top private schools are within 10-minutes' drive away - Alleyn's, Dulwich College and JAGS. There's a large Sainsbury's a few minutes' away, an excellent adventure playground and green space at Ruskin Park. You can walk to shops, restaurants and bars in Camberwell or East Dulwich from here and have some rather fortunate local eateries within an arm's stretch.
