3 Bedroom House Sold

Former Homes for Heroes near great schools, lovely parks and trains/Overground links. Semi-detached, 3-bedrooms, westerly garden, lovely new kitchen. It needs finishing, but the work is purely cosmetic. A brilliant, chain-free buy.

Lining Kelvington Road are these Duchy of Cornwall 'homes fit for heroes' - houses built to welcome returning troops from the horrors of the First World War. They were designed and built very well, with families in mind and lots of outside space.

This house has off street parking at the front and a gate on one side of the house, leading to the garden. A new kitchen has been fitted with grey handleless cabinets, metro tiled splashbacks and new appliances. There's a back door out to the garden and an open doorway into the dining room. There's a large window overlooking the garden (a great dining spot) and the floorboards have been sanded and treated. At the front of the house is a large reception with twin windows and alcove storage. The floorboards are waiting in here (and the upstairs bedrooms) to be sanded and waxed.

The hallway in this house is wider than you'd expect and there's decent under stairs storage. Two of the bedrooms are doubles and have built-in wardrobes while the third is a roomy single (with some built-in furniture). Overlooking Aquarius Golf Club, the garden is begging for some kind, green fingers! Either side is flanked by hedging, the rear boundary is walled, and it faces west/west-northwest.

A leafy cut-through gets you to trains at Honor Oak Park in around 12-minutes. Regular trains travel to London Bridge and Victoria while London Overground services link to Canada Water, Shoreditch, Hoxton, Dalston Junction and Highbury & Islington. The P12 bus will get you to Peckham Rye, Queen's Road and Nunhead stations in 5-10 minutes.

This address is on the edge of East Dulwich and Nunhead and surrounded by greenery; One Tree Hill, Brenchley Gardens, Nunhead Cemetery, Camberwell Old Cemetery and Peckham Rye Park are all at arm's length. You can walk to Honor Oak's high street, the centre of Brockley (around 15-minutes), North Cross Road (20-minutes) and Peckham (20-minutes) for restaurants, bars, shops, cinemas and markets. Your local pub, The Ivyhouse, is London's first co-operatively owned boozer which tells you something about the community around here - there was a whip-round to save it! Forest Hill Road has two fabulous pubs that do great food and have large gardens (Watson's General Telegraph and The Herne Tavern), an Italian restaurant, a Co-op, Post Office, a couple of superb cafés (Norris and Knight, French Café Bistro), a Post Office and DIY shop.

Local schools include much-loved Ivydale and Turnham primary schools, while older kids fare well at either Harris academy at Peckham Rye (both Ofsted 'outstanding') Forest Hill Boys', Sydenham Girls' or Kingsdale.
